XEPU XX-Series Bench Lamps Operating Instructions
Introduction
XEPU XX-Series Bench Lamps are ordered with or without two ultra-violet tubes. The series covers 15 watt and 20 watt models.
Before operating the XX-Series lamp, read the Safety Precautions below for important information on protection from ultraviolet radiation.
Installation
The XX-Series fixture is designed for installation on a wall, ceiling or other similar location. A properly grounded outlet is required. The grounding plug is a necessary safety feature. Do not remove or override it or attempt to use an ungrounded outlet.
Each ultraviolet tube is equipped with two pins located on each end. To install the tube into the fixture, hold the tube so the pins are vertical. Slide both ends of the tube into lamp holders, beginning with the lower pins, and rotate the tube forward so that the pins become horizontal and fit securely in the lamp holders.
The Exposure Stand is for use with the XX-15 lamps. The lamp mounts on top of the stand. The shelf is adjustable to different levels for repeated exposure.
Filter covers, also for the XX-15 lamps, slide on and off the face of the lamp fixture.
Safety Precautions
When using shortwave ultraviolet XX-Series Bench Lamps, UV protective eyewear and skin covering is required to protect all persons exposed to shortwave UV radiation. Unprotected eyes and skin can be seriously damaged by exposure to shortwave UV. When using longwave ultraviolet XX-Series Bench Lamps, UV protective eyewear is recommended to block UV and “blue haze” associated with longwave UV.
Operation
To turn the lamp on, push the ON/OFF switch on the end of the XX-Series fixture to the “ON” position. Ultraviolet tubes are fluorescent and require relatively little power while in operation. However, turning the fixture on and off frequently will reduce the life span of the fluorescent tubes.
