Bacteria and Biofilm Detector XEPU-1720
Bacteria and Biofilm Detector XEPU-1720
The Bacteria and Biofilm Detector XEPU-1720 is a simple, cheap, and reliable solution for detecting contaminants over large surface areas, without the use of chemicals. Built around our unique UV fluorescing technology, the XEPU-1720 Bacteria and Biofilm Detector can quickly identify areas harboring bacterial contaminants such as E.coli, listeria and salmonella which are often missed under standard white light or simple UV light. The XEPU-1720 can illuminate large areas of work surfaces, aseptic lines, tanks, cheese vats, and other vessels. It allows immediate corrective action by providing instant results, helping to prevent quality deviations and ensure regulatory compliance in the liquid food processing, nutraceutical, pharma, medical and petrochemical industries.

The XEPU-1720 Bacteria and Biofilm Detector can detect different types of microorganisms as listed below. Biofilms are complex microbial ecosystems formed by one or more species immersed in a combination of different arrangements depending on the type of manufacturing environment they live within. Examples of microorganisms that can make up these biofilms include bacteria and fungi.

Why Use XEPU-1720 Bacteria and Biofilm Detector?
Minimizing the risk of contamination in food production
Food production managers face a crucial decision every day: whether to begin production. Every hour that production is delayed for cleaning results in lost potential revenue. However, starting production on a surface that hasn’t been thoroughly cleaned significantly increases the risk of contamination. The XEPU-1720 Bacteria and Biofilm Detector offers a simple solution, enabling operators to inspect large areas quickly and non-destructively, without the use of chemicals. Equipped with two rechargeable batteries, the device allows one battery to charge while the other is in use, minimizing interruptions and downtime.
Complementing traditional ATP tests
Food manufacturers often face challenges in detecting bacteria and biofilms that could contaminate their products. Currently, they rely on ATP tests, which measure the presence of actively growing microorganisms by detecting adenosine triphosphate (ATP). While this method is effective, it has limitations due to the small size of the swabbed area relative to the overall surface. The swabbing process itself can be cumbersome. However, by complementing this traditional method with the XEPU-1720 Bacteria and Biofilm Detector, ATP testing can become faster and more efficient. The XEPU-1720 Bacteria and Biofilm Detector helps identify areas of contamination, allowing ATP swab tests to be focused on those spots.
More efficient and accurate than traditional methods
While other technologies, such as fluorescent markers and gels, are available, they are not environmentally friendly and, like ATP tests, suffer from the limitations of a small testing area, making accurate results difficult to obtain. Contaminants often go unnoticed with other detection methods like white light and simple UV lamps. The XEPU-1720 Bacteria and Biofilm Detector illuminates the entire surface, providing immediate results and enabling you to detect potential issues within seconds, whereas other methods might take hours.
